We built this because we needed it ourselves.

CanShip is built by My Passion Media Inc., a Canadian company that also operates Breakthrough Studio, a real 3PL in Metro Vancouver. We built CanShip because we ran the warehouse first.

Our story

From a real warehouse, to your warehouse.

The problem was real before the software was

We spent years running ecommerce in Canada

Shipping from our own warehouse. Dealing with Canada Post rate cards, GST on 3PL invoices, bilingual customers who expected French packing slips, and US software that had no idea what any of that meant.

We tried the alternatives

ShipHero, ShipStation, the others

The problems were always the same: priced in USD, no Canada Post rate shopping, no French, no provincial tax logic. And expensive. Some platforms start at over $2,500 CAD per month once you factor in the conversion.

So we built it

CanShip, internal first, then for the industry

We built CanShip internally for our own warehouse at Breakthrough Studio. After 6 months of building and testing, we realized other Canadian 3PLs had the same problem. CanShip is now available to the industry we know best.

Canadian data residency

CanShip is hosted in Montreal. All data, yours and your clients', stays in Canada. PIPEDA compliant. Not a policy claim, a technical enforcement.

What we mean by 'built for Canada'

'Canadian-friendly' is not the same as built for Canada.

Most US WMS platforms are 'Canadian-friendly' in the same way a US ATM is Canadian-friendly. Technically usable, but you are paying conversion fees, working around assumptions, and missing the things that matter most.

Built our carrier integration around Canada Post. Not a plugin. The backbone. Every service, every province, every territory.

Principle 2
CAD billing with CRA-compliant invoices

Every invoice from CanShip in Canadian dollars with proper GST, HST, QST line items. No conversion, no FX games.

Principle 3
Bilingual, actually

Not just a toggle on the UI. French packing slips, French invoices, French error messages. Built for all of Canada.

Principle 4
GST, HST, PST, QST built in

Canada has 5 provincial and territorial tax systems and one federal rate. We know them all. So does CanShip.

Team

Operators, not consultants.

Kevin, D'Arcy, and Chris all work on the warehouse floor when the team needs them. That's how we stay close to the work. The product reflects how fulfillment actually runs, not how it looks in a slide deck.

Founder

Kevin Hinton

Kevin built and scaled multiple ecommerce brands in Canada before launching Breakthrough Studio and CanShip. He writes the code requirements, talks to customers, and is on the warehouse floor whenever shipping volume calls for it.

Lead Engineer and COO

D'Arcy Gregoire

D'Arcy is the lead engineer of CanShip and COO of My Passion Media. He turns warehouse needs into the WMS we ship, and he's on the floor running shipments when the team is short. The product isn't built by people who've never picked an order.

Head of Marketing

Chris Hinton

Chris leads marketing across CanShip and Breakthrough Studio. He's also on the floor regularly, which is why the marketing reflects how the platform actually works rather than how we wish it worked.
